Sydney | 21 October

This half-day event in Sydney will spotlight sovereign cloud in the Australian and APJ region, focusing on how data sovereignty and local cloud innovation intersect with national policy and compliance requirements. Australia’s government has identified “risks to data sovereignty, data centre ownership and supply chain” as urgent issues to address in its Whole-of-Government Hosting Strategy. Meanwhile, emerging drivers such as AI and cybersecurity are pushing organisations to re-evaluate how and where critical data is stored and processed. The event is distinct from, but complementary to, the broader VMware Explore sessions, focusing on Australia’s regulatory landscape and local cloud solutions. Attendees will gain clarity on Australian data residency laws, upcoming regulatory changes, and real-world examples of sovereign cloud in action.

Frankfurt | 12 November

Scheduled in Frankfurt as a half-day forum, this event is tailored to the German and broader DACH audience, emphasising cloud sovereignty in the context of European regulations and German innovation. As Europe doubles down on digital sovereignty for competitiveness and resilience, Germany stands at the forefront, being Europe’s largest economy and home to key sovereign cloud initiatives. The Frankfurt edition will align with the VMware “Tour and Explore” series, complementing its technical content with a deep dive into local policy, compliance, and cloud innovations in Germany. It will facilitate dialogue on how evolving laws (EU and German) are reshaping cloud strategy, and how businesses and government agencies can respond. Germany has some of the world’s most stringent data protection and residency requirements, guided by the GDPR and national regulations. As a result, German providers have been leading the way in solutions to keep data within German borders. This event’s rationale is to provide a forum for stakeholders to understand these requirements, share best practices, and highlight opportunities for innovation within a sovereign cloud framework.
